This and That

  • I am waiting on a load of laundry to finish so I can go to bed.
  • My amazing parents helped me get my car packed so I can leave early in the morning.
  • My amazing mom vacuumed my car and cleaned all the windows.
  • My amazing parents are keeping Bailey while we are gone.
  • Did I mention I have an amazing mom and dad?
  • I still have not finished The Shack.  Why am I such a slow reader these days?
  • I am praying for Jaquie,  a recent high school graduate from Cartersville. She had a swimming accident this weekend and may be paralyzed.  I don’t know her, but I know what she is going through.  Please say a prayer for her and her family.
  • Spencer is so excited to see Nana tomorrow.  I am too :)
  • I pray you all have a blessed rest of the week.  Hopefully, I’ll be able to steal my hubby’s computer away from him to post some fun stuff!  If not, I’ll join the blog world again in a week or so.

On the Road Again

I am almost packed and ready for our last road trip of the summer.  We (the boys & and my wonderful assistant, Kayla) are headed to KY to see my grandparents for a couple of days.  We will then head to OH to hang out with Will and the band guys for the next week.  I grew up in OH and am looking forward to visiting the state again.  Hopefully this camp will be a little more accessible than the house we stayed in at Fort Walton.  I’m praying it is cause I really don’t feel like being hosed off outside!   :)

We have had a wonderful time this summer traveling with Will and the band.  It is always so special to see so many youth’s lives changed through music and God-given messages.

Playing in the Rain

We are not allowed to use the word “bored” in our house.  However, the past two days have been pretty boring around here.  We have not gone anywhere or done anything.  I have been waiting for something fun and free to come my way…and to my surprise it started pouring down rain today.  I opened the front door to watch it rain with the boys and, of course they asked if they could go out and play in it.  I waited until it slowed down and then told them to have fun.  They had a blast and I had a great time watching them.  It was free and fun!!

7 Great Things About Being In A Wheelchair

1.  The testimony God has given me.  I love being able to share what He has done in my life and the many blessings He has given me.

2.  Getting into movies for free.

3.  Amazing parking spots.

4.  I don’t have to load my groceries into my car or carry them into my house. (Many thanks to those who help me do this chore)

5.  Downhills are so much fun.

6.  Mosquito bites on my legs don’t itch.

7.  I can pop a wheelie any time I want to.

I Can’t Stand Being FAT

The title does not even convey my true feelings about being overweight.  I actually HATE being fat.  Yes, I am posting a blog for you all to read about my weight.  To be honest, I don’t actually know the pounds I weigh because I can’t step on a scale.  I don’t know if that’s a good thing or bad thing - probably bad.  Anyway, I am posting this to ask for your help.  I am desperate.  After spending a week in a condo with mirrors on just about every wall, it hit me hard.  I even told Will that I can’t believe he would be attracted to me in the least.  It really is bad and I am ashamed to have let myself go like I have.  For so long I have blamed my weight on having two babies and not being able to exercise like “normal” people.  However, I can’t use those excuses any more.  I have to stop eating sweets (oh how I love ice cream!) and I have to start exercising!  I even have a workout video this paralyzed woman made and it will kick anyone’s rear.  So please, please, please help me in any way you can.  Come to my house and push me into the street and tell me to go!  Meet me at a park to go for a walk (or stroll as I like to call it).  If I am eating with you make me order something healthy.  I know a lot of you knew me when I weighed 125 lbs., so you know I can do it.  The minute my accident happened I became a statistic.  Statistically my life span is shortened just because I am paralyzed.  To be overweight on top of that makes it even more of a risk.  For health reasons and for my sanity please help me on this one.  Comments, encouraging words, suggestions, and giving me ultimatums are open!!!!

What’s Going On Around Our House…

It is so nice to be home after being in FL for 2 weeks.  Even though I have a ton of things to do around here and I will be staying very busy the next couple of weeks, there is just something special about being back in your own house.  This week Will is out of town for a few days on a staff retreat, we will be volunteering at Dellinger Park on the 4th, and then Will and the band are leading worship in TN next week.  Therefore, I will be here a lot with just me and the boys.  I’ll probably hang out with my mom and dad a lot and hopefully get to take the boys swimming some.  Please say a little prayer for Will as he travels a good bit the next couple of weeks.

Some things I am looking forward to:

  • Finishing The Shack
  • Our church moving back to the movie theatre
  • Traveling with Kayla and the boys to KY and OH
  • Seeing my grandparents for a couple of days
  • Hanging out with Will and the band guys at this camp in OH
  • Going to Cedar Point
  • Ean being baptized at the lake on July 27th!!!  Please let me know if you want to join us that evening at the lake.

Swimming Story

Ok, so I grew up wanting to swim any chance I could get. If there was a pool around I would be in it and would swim until someone told me to get out. I loved swimming, diving, doing handstands, talking to my friends underwater, and just about anything else you can play in a pool. When I was done swimming I would have some major red eyes and would be completely drained. Well, it looks as if my little guys are taking after their Mommy. Ean and Spencer have been swimming a ton in FL and they love every minute of it, and I’m loving watching them swim.

Hanging Out in FL

I haven’t been able to blog for awhile because we did not have internet access in Fort Walton.  We are now in Panama City and finally I can update you all on what we have been up to.  Will and the band guys led worship all last week for SuperWow.  We really had an amazing week hanging out together and with students from all over GA.  The SuperWow staff did an incredible job, and we throughly enjoyed our week.  The music was awesome and the speaker, David Platt, was even better.  The only down side was the house we stayed in did not have a handicap accessible bathroom.  However, God worked it out for me to use the conference center bathroom.  It was so accessible I told Will that one day when we build a house I wanted a shower like the one there!  Kayla, my assistant with the boys, was a God-send.  She was so great with the boys and they absolutely love her.  Spencer cried a ton when he woke up from his nap and she had already left to go back home.  We can’t wait to travel with her to Ohio.  Here are a few pictures of Will and the guys leading worship.  Hopefully I can update more this week.  I pray you all are doing well.  Leave a comment to say hi.  I would love to see what God is doing in your life.

Hypermiling

My best friend, Kathy, was on a Dan Rather report called, “WHY SO HIGH? AMERICA & THE PRICE OF OIL.”  While I was watching it, I saw a segment on “hypermilling” and it caught my attention.  I did a little research about it and have decided that it is something I will start doing while I drive.  You should watch the video about the gas prices and see how one man gets over 100 miles to the gallon!!  I have already seen a difference in my MPG average and Will has too.  It takes a little getting used to, but I think it is worth it.

Friday Date Night

Will and I usually have a date night every Saturday night (thanks to my amazing mom and dad), however we switched things up a bit this week.  Billy and Annabeth took the boys to see a movie and then to spend the night, so we had our date night on Friday.  We put Oak Leaf Church signs around town, ate at Larry’s Giant Subs, and then we did a little shopping at Target.  We may watch a movie and then get some rest for a big day tomorrow.  In the morning we are headed to the Leadership Summit (a meeting for all of Oak Leaf’s volunteers) and then tomorrow night we are volunteering for the BBQ Classic in Cartersville.  We will be handing out balloons to the kiddos, bottles of water, and Oak Leaf Church invites.  I’m praying for lots and lots of people to come by and see us.  We have a huge desire to reach the Cartersville community and want to serve when we can - so come by and see us tomorrow night - and if you’re not busy, you can help us out too! :)
